In this biodigester construction in Ghana blog post, I have two key observations for you to consider when constructing a biodigester.

Firstly, since most plumbers are unfamiliar with using biodegradable waste biodigesters to manage human waste sustainably, they often lay pipes expecting to build a septic tank.

This is usually the case because it is a holding tank, and the constructor can go as much as 20 feet below the ground.

So it doesn’t matter if they lay the pipes and then bury them up to 3 feet; there will still be enough space for the wastewater and then the human waste to be stored until it’s time to be dislodged.

If you intend to install a biodigester for your dream house, your initial step should be to consult a biodigester construction expert.

Arrange a meeting involving the expert, the plumber, and yourself to collectively decide on the pipe locations and the acceptable range of slopes.

Secondly, if the water table is very high, it signals a potential issue. In such cases, I recommend bringing in a biodigester team to work on the situation.

Ideally, have the digester team install their biodigester first, leaving the pipes to determine the slope for the plumber’s later work.

A crucial point to remember is to refrain from excavating the ground for biodigester installation without consulting a biodigester expert.

It is highly recommended to entrust all excavation, measurements, and related tasks to the contractor responsible for the construction.
